    The inherent tension between
    points and lines

Basic points and lines can always be defined with different meanings in design. In terms of the external concept, points and lines are the same types of design elements, while in terms of the internal concept, elements do not mean simple shapes, but the inner tension existing in-between shapes. To achieve the creation balance, I divided my research direction into two aspects:  consideration and intuition.

CROSSBOUNDARIES is a diversified architectural office, with a strong intention of innovation. Based on the investigation and understanding of CROSSBOUNDARIES, An exclusive automatic production mechanism is created by combining points and lines, so as to produce a logo with infinite possibilities.

First step: ASCII binary codes are used as the original basis. Second step: the ASCII binary codes create generating codes that correspond to the characters of “CROSSBOUNDARIE”. Third step: the generating odes were repeated to form grids. The first three steps are all products with careful consideration. Fourth step: the architects connected points and points together according to their intuitiveness. Fifth step: the connection points and lines were extracted out after removing non-connected points. The fourth and fifth steps are artificial operations based on intuitiveness.
